The fans will finally get to see the much-anticipated title rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. The two fighters are set to take on each other in the co-main event of UFC 273. The trash-talking has already kicked off between the two.
Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan have been waiting to get their hands on each other for quite some time now. Both the fighters will officially fight each other in a title rematch in the co-main event of UFC 273. Sterling and Yan were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 267 but the American had to pull out due to an injury.
Yan went on to fight against top bantamweight contender, Cory Sandhagen with the interim bantamweight title on the line and the Russian took home the belt. Yan and Sterling fought each other, the first time at UFC 259 where Sterling won the bantamweight belt from Yan via disqualification. This is the first time in UFC’s history, a fighter became champion via DQ.

Aljamain Sterling takes a dig at Petr Yan’s interim belt
After ESPN MMA made an official announcement for the title rematch, Sterling was quick to poke fun of his opponent. “Take that fake ass belt off Yan,” wrote Aljamain. Both the bantamweight fighter have been going back and forth for a long time. Yan has constantly trashed Sterling for allegedly acting his way out of their first meeting.
Fans have also caused a lot of trouble for the bantamweight champion on social media. Sterling gets told constantly that he is the fake champion. However, Sterling being a great sport takes his time to reply to a lot of his fans’ questions. According to the fighter, in Q&A, he said he would submit Yan within the first round in his rematch at UFC 273.
The two will now take the center stage in Jacksonville, Florida on April 9th. They will be in the undercard of another amazing fight between Alexander Volkanovski vs Korean Zombie for the featherweight title. Do you think Sterling manages to get the victory against Yan in April?
