“They’re building a product”- Teddy Atlas believes Sean O’Malley is afforded privileges from the UFC like Conor McGregor
Sean O'Malley and Conor McGregor
Arguably one of the best fighters in the UFC, Sean O’Malley or Suga, is on the path of greatness. Drawing inspiration from the UFC great, Conor McGregor, he is surely the top prospect for the UFC. Teddy Atlas has some views he wanted to share about Sean O’Malley and McGregor.
Atlas thinks that the UFC offers both these fighters the increased chance of fighting relatively easier competition so that they have a chance of winning easily and get more brands to invest in them. This in turn helps in increasing their revenue.
“O’Malley can fight, and yeah, we want to see him tested. But there are special privileges out there. When a guy can bring money in, when a guy can be McGregor, they get little special privileges. They can fight maybe a little bit of lighter competition as they’re allowed to build because they’re building a product. He’s flown under that category where he’s given a little special privilege,” argued Teddy Atlas.
“Sean O’Malley and Conor McGregor fall under the same category of privilaged fighters,” says Teddy Atlas
Teddy Atlas was quick to point out, “Maybe McGregor too was given these privileges. In the end, McGregor fought everyone. He beat the guys that he faced and O’Malley has too. But I think they are using him to help the brand again.”

When O’Malley was asked how much he idolized McGregor, he said, “I definitely have taken bits and pieces and learned from him, which is the smart thing to do. Learn from someone who is that successful and doing that well. But yeah he’s definitely inspired me a ton. The way he carries himself. The way he handles pressure. The way he goes into these big fights. I’ve learned a lot from him.”
