UFC 270 turned out to be a monumental success as the main event fight was an impressive fight to watch. Francis Ngannou shut down his doubters and showed why is the deserving champ by winning the bout via unanimous decision.
The fighter put forward a great fight and pushed himself to his limits. With exceptional composure and ground game, Ngannou managed to keep his championship title and defeat Ciryl Gane.
Dana White didn’t put the belt around Francis Ngannou’s waist
After the amazing night of UFC 270 and the incredible title victory of Ngannou against Gane, MMA reporter Ariel Helwani put out a tweet in which he pointed out the fact that UFC president Dana White didn’t come out to wrap the belt around Ngannou after winning. Instead of White, Mick Maynard did the job and put on the belt. “Mick Maynard puts the belt on Francis Ngannou,” wrote Helwani.

This tweet was directed towards the rare situation that happened tonight as conventionally White always does the job of putting the belt around his fighters after the win but this time was an exception. There is no particular reason why it happened but MMA fans around the world are making their own assumption about this behavior of White.
One of the most logical reasons could be the ongoing altercation between the Heavyweight champ and White. Before the fight between him and Gane in the interviews, Ngannou opened up about his current relationship with the UFC. The French-Cameroonian explained that he is being neglected by the promotion and compared to other division champions he isn’t getting promoted much. The fighter believed that he is being treated differently and the UFC is not giving him the importance and he doesn’t want to continue his contract in the future.
When asked about this particular matter, White in the post-fight interview of UFC Vegas 46 explained that these kinds of things happen very often as fighters and promoters fail to come into a suitable negotiation. But in the case of Ngannou, his management was very bad which didn’t give UFC any chances to have ideal communication.
