Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira

After the first two booking going down the drain for respective reasons. Santos vs Teixeira has been booked for the third time. The UFC is working on pairing the two former light heavyweight title challengers to fight. This time, for Nov. 7 in Las Vegas. Both prior bookings were altered due to COVID-19, with Teixeira testing positive for the virus ahead of the original date and then Santos receiving a positive test ahead of the first re-booking.

The matchup was slated again for Oct. 3 on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, but just weeks prior, it was revealed the fight had been cancelled once more, this time because Santos tested positive for coronavirus.

Santos has won 21 fights in his professional MMA career. He has not competed since a split decision loss in a light heavyweight championship fight with Jon Jones in July of last year. “Marreta” won four straights to earn that shot. But required knee surgery to address injuries that he acquired while fighting Jones.

The matchup is expected to produce a No. 1 contender for the winner of this weekend’s vacant UFC light heavyweight title bout between Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz. But will the third time be a charm? Let’s cross our fingers and hope so.
