“Those will work” Joaquin Buckley believes Commander Dale Brown’s self defense tactics are effective in a street fight
Joaquin Buckley speaks on his special coach Dale Brown
UFC light middleweight Joaquin Buckley had a very special person cornering him at UFC Vegas 48 during his win against Abdul Razak Alhassan. Commander Dale Brown, who was in Buckley’s corner is trolled for his self-defense instructions online but the middleweight fighter says Dale’s tips would actually work in a street fight.
Ahead of UFC Vegas 48, Joaquin Buckley took over the internet when he revealed that the Detroit DUST self-defense instructor, Commander Dale Brown, was going to be in his corner helping him with his fight against Abdul Razak Alhassan. Brown is a huge sensation on the internet for instructions on self-defense.
Buckley fought a very close fight and the judges awarded him with a split decision win. Following the win, Buckley made an appearance on the recent episode of MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani and spoke about his cornerman. Ariel asked if Dale’s tactics actually work or if it was all just a troll/parody and Buckley claims that Dale Brown is “legit”.
Joaquin Buckley and Dale Brown might link up for future fights too!
“Yeah you could definitely use these in the streets,” said Joaquin on whether Dale’s tactics could work in real life. “I mean its whatever it takes. Whatever you got to do to get yourself out of a certain situation. Eye gouge, elbows, joint manipulation, and stuff like that. All those things work in an actual fight.”
“It was just to get some more attention but he did give me some good advice,” said Buckley when asked about Dale’s coaching from the sideline. When asked about if the fans would ever see the two pair again in future fights, Buckley said, “It all depends on his time. He is a busy guy. He is getting hit up by all these celebrities, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg…so whenever we line up, we line up.”
