“Bigger than he used to be”- Urijah Faber offers insight into Cody Garbrandt’s potential return to 135-lbs

Cody Garbrandt and Urijah Faber

Cody Garbrandt made his UFC debut in 2015 and after five consecutive wins fought Dominick Cruz for the Bantamweight title and won it. The fighter showed incredible performance and many assumed that it would be hard to take that belt away from him. But things didn’t go that way.

Garbrandt is currently in a hard spot in UFC. The fighter has won only once in his last seven Octagon appearances. It all started when he lost his Bantamweight title to TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217 and failed to capture it again at UFC 227. Garbrandt’s last win was against Raphael Assunção at UFC 250.

After struggling in the bantamweight division, the fighter shocked the world with his flyweight debut against Kai Kara-France at UFC 269. But unfortunately, he lost the fight via TKO.

Faber recently did an interview with MMA reporter ‘The Schmo’ where he talked about his MMA promotion, the MMA community and other fighters.

As a friend of Cody Garbrandt, Faber was asked about his opinions regarding Garbrandt’s next fight. While responding to the question, the UFC Hall of Famer revealed that he thinks Garbrandt has gained some weight, currently around 155 pounds. Faber claimed that Garbrandt will go back to the Bantamweight division and will be fighting soon. Faber also explained that Garbrandt is mentally in a good place and he is excited to see the fighter back in the octagon.
“I feel like he’s hit like a little bit of like a weight gain you know. I think he’s walking around 55 56 which is bigger than he used to be so, I have the feeling he’s going back up to 35s. I think he’s gonna fight pretty soon and he’s in a really good place right now. He’s focused and life seems in order and I’m looking forward to his return,” said Faber.

The loss against Kara-France was overwhelming for Cody Garbrandt and many fans are claiming that ‘No Love’ can never make a comeback. It is a great chance for the fighter to bounce back from the loss and get back to the winning days.
