In the first match of UFC Vegas 13 main card, Women’s strawweight contenders Claudia Gadelha (7-5) take on Yan Xiaonan (6-0) inside the Octagon. Yan has never lost a fight in the UFC and today she looked very sharp to improve his record further. She is known for his speed and sharp striking and Claudia seems to have no answers for her striking.

Round 1: The round started and Yan strikes to secure the first point by an early low kick but she misses. She is looking flawless from the start with her hands’ movements that she is using very swiftly. Gadelha attempts a takedown and gets it but Yan rained elbows and punches on her from underneath her. Gadelha tries to save herself by scrambling to the outside.

Yan does well to keep control of her, and they both get up. Yan holds her in the clinch position and tried to hit her with knees. Yan tries to hit one more leg kick but this time Gadelha catches it and secured a takedown. The horn sounds and the first round was really close.

Round 2: Yan landed some big and heavy shots as soon as the round started. Gadelha swings back, looking for the counter but she misses. Gadelha looks low in front of Yan because of her speed. Whenever Gadelha is trying to advance Yan is striking her with sharp strikes.

Gadelha finally connects with a counter left but Yan’s volume is evident. Yan attempts a spinning back fist but misses and Gadelha connects with a counter punch. The bell rings and the round ended.

Round 3: Gadelha is looking to counter the pace of Yan by moving faster in the last round, she is looking for a finish here. She attempts a double underhooks and took Yan to the fence. Gadelha is looking relentless in the clinch, but Yan is able to slip back to the center.

Yan continues his strategy of stick and move. Gadelha is able to move into clinch once again, she is not letting Yan move much in this round. Yan able to spin off the fence and drive an elbow. Less than a minute left now, Yan is still moving very well. There were some final blows from both of them and the bell sounds, it’s up to the judges now.

Result: Yan Xiaonan def Claudia Gadelha via unanimous decision (29-28,29-28,29-28)
