UFC Vegas 15: Miguel Baeza def. Takashi Sato via submission
Miguel Baeza puts his undefeated record on the line, facing off against Takashi Sato in a welterweight bout on the main card. Baeza goes into this fight as the underdog.
Round 1 – First minute of the round spent by both men by getting a feel for the opponent’s strikes and techniques. Baeza lands a body kick followed by a front kick. Another body kick and an overhand right punish. High kick by Baeza lands. Two minutes in and we see Sato being dominated thus far. Baeza continuing to throw kick after kick. Sato finally lands a left to the body. Three minutes in, the fighters engage in a clinch. Timeout as Baeza lands a low knee. Sato rests for about two minutes of the allotted time. Sato connects with a left. They clinch again and Baeza lands a heavy knee. They break and Baeza misses a kick. Sato, now visibly swelling around his right eye. Baeza lands a kick and a left to the body late. Close Round.
Sato seems to be getting overwhelmed by Baeza’s relentless kicks.
Round 2 – Baeza starts off the round with a solid kick to the body and follows with a right jab on Sato. Baeza lands an overhand right. Sato lands a right jab and responded by a high kick from Baeza. Sato connects with a left. Baeza with a 1-2 combo followed by a kick. Baeza shoots off a quick succession of a body kick and a leg kick completing with a right hand to the body. A heavy body kick by Baeza rocks Sato. A two-punch combo by Baeza followed by a single has Sato pushed to the fence, giving the opportunity for Baeza to get a takedown and his back. Baeza deals some devastating ground and pound on a turtling Sato. Baeza proceeds to sweep Sato into a head-and-arm choke, forcing Sato to tap out. Close round, close match.
