In the Heavyweight contest of UFC Vegas 27, Dana White’s contender series fame Jared Vanderaa (11-5) will be entering the Octagon to face Justin Tafa (4-2). This is one of the most highly anticipated match-ups of UFC Vegas 27’s fight card.

Tafa is coming in this fight with a split decision loss against Carlos Felipe at UFC on ABC: Holloway vs Kattar and Vanderaa is coming in this fight with a loss against Sergey Spivak at UFC Fight Night 185: Blaydes vs Lewis.

Round 1: Vanderaa started the fight with an early low kick and Tafa kept his hands high. He walks away and tried to fire a big left hand. Tafa landed a nice left to the body and Vanderaa worked on his legs. Vanderaa holds him against the cage and Tafa landed a knee as he exits the clinch.

Both men firing huge shots and Vanderaa landed a nice kick to the body. Tafa landed a nice jab and they both traded left hands just as the horn sounds.

Round 2: Vanderaa checked a leg kick as the round started and Tafa tried to land a big left but he missed. Vanderaa landed a high kick but blocked. Both men traded some heavy shots and Tafa is held up against the clinch. Vanderaa’s head is opened up and it’s bleeding really bad.

More punches traded as they both threw heavy shots. Tafa landed a straight shot to the body. Vanderaa stumbles back from a big left hand and a good finish from Tafa.

Round 3: Tafa and Vanderaa swung at the start of the round. Tafa landed a nice right hand and Vanderaa landed a one-two combination. Big punches traded between both and Tafa continued landing heavy shots. They traded hooks in the pocket and Tafa wraps his body. Big right hand from Vanderaa and punches and kicks traded as the fight ends.

Result: Jared Vanderaa def Justin Tafa via Unanimous Decision ( 30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
