UFC Vegas 34 Preliminary card

UFC Vegas 34 features a clash between two of the prominent fighters in the middleweight division. Jared Cannonier vs Kelvin Gastelum will be the fight headlining UFC Vegas 34. The event also hosts a stunning preliminary card with interesting matchups.

The battle between Cannonier and Gastelum is going to be very critical of the path this middleweight division takes. The event takes place at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas. The event begins with a six-fight preliminary card. Let’s take a look at the results of UFC Vegas 34 prelims.

Sasha Palatnikov vs. Ramiz Brahimaj (Welterweight):

Round 1: The first fight of UFC Vegas 34 kicked off. Both the fighters look very light on their feet. Brahimaj wastes very little time and takes the fight to the floor. Palatnikov is put on his back and Brahimaj seemed to control the fight. A failed arm-triangle attempt from the aggressor but then he goes to the mount. BRahimaj goes for the choke and squeezes his opponent’s neck and Paltnikov refuses to tap to the submission. Controversial refereeing as Palatnikov is put to sleep and the fight is waved off.

Roosevelt Roberts vs. Ignacio Bahamondes (Lightweight):

Round 1: Plenty of action as the fight begins as we can witness exchanges right from the beginning. Both the fighters looking to mix it up with their jabs and also their kicks. Robert looked really good with his jab and he took control of the fight. An unintentional eye poke from Bahamondes against Robert. Fight resumes and Robert looked to change levels but Bahamondes defends well. Punches traded by the fighters. Attempts of changing levels to the canvas but no success in it for Robert. Bell goes.

Round 2: Bahamondes looked really good as the round began. Low kicks were traded between the fighter as no time was left idle. An amazing exchange between the two fighters as they land crisp punches. Bahomendes with some impressive takedown defense in the fight as he managed to once again stop Robert from taking him down. Bahomendes has a damaged eye but he’s still doing his own damage. Bell goes for the second round.

Round 3: Robert capitalizes on Bahomendes’s damage and acts as the aggressor. Multiple failed attempts for Robert to takedown Bahomendes. The fight was played in standup. Bahomendes threw solid punches that would score for him. Time is ticking as both the fighters exchange really well. Robert goes down from a hammerfist but is right back up. A clean right hand for Robert, seconds left in the fight, Bahomendes unleashes a spinning wheel kick that puts Robert to sleep. What a finish to the fight.

Results: Ignacio Bahamondes def. Roosevelt Roberts via knockout (spinning wheel kick) – Round 3, 4:55

William Knight vs. Fabio Cherant (Light Heavyweight):

Round 1: Both the fighters open with low kicks. Cherant looked to attack with his jabs and punches while Knight stuck to his kicks. A powerful low kick from William as it scores. Then he went for a high kick but Cherant was very aware to block it. Cherant seemed to be getting impatient with his opponent’s kicks and lands a good left hand. Another shot to the body while Knight once again kicked to the body. Cherant looking to finish the fight as he pressed forwards, Knight connects with a left hook and Cherant is shaken. Knight takes advantage and threw a barrage of punches. Fight over.

Results: William Knight def. Fabio Cherant via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 3:58

Bea Malecki vs. Josiane Nunes (Woman Bantamweight):

Round 1: Malecki started off her fight by keeping the distance from Nunes’ scoring range and landed using her reach. Huge hands from Nunes. Josiane seems to find success in her punches. Malecki seemed to be hurt at the very beginning of the round. A train of punches came towards Malecki as she looked to settle and cover-up. A high kick from Malecki. Nunes did not stop putting pressure for one second, she walked through those punches and kicks. A huge overhand for Nunes followed by a barrage of punches. A flurry of punches with a clean left puts Malecki on the floor and finishes the fight.

Brian Kelleher vs. Domingo Pilarte (Bantamweight):

Round 1: Kelleher wasted no time to take the fight to the canvas. Lifted Pilarte and slammed him to the floor. Kelleher takes the side control and is looking to control the fight. Punches are thrown at Pilarte from the top and Pilarte tries to punch back with very little effect. A lot of time was spent on the canvas and nothing crucial had taken place. Kelleher was throwing punches from the top and there seemed like nothing Pilarte could do. Complete domination by Kelleher. Round ends.

Round 2: Kelleher acts as the aggressor and looked to put pressure right away. Another successful takedown for Kelleher. There was nothing Pilarte could do to stop it. Once again Brian was on top and dominating the fight. With a couple of minutes left in the round, Pillarte almost managed to stand up on his feet but Kelleher pulls his opponent back down with a guillotine attempt. Pilarte with a good scramble and is now on top. Punches were thrown while he is on top. Round ends.

Round 3: Pilarte opened with a high kick and was careful to not get taken down. But it seemed like it was inevitable as he gets takedown once again by Kelleher. Brian is on top and punches his time away. Pilarte badly needs a finish and looks to work on a submission. But finds no success. Kelleher his ground and pounds his way through the third round. Excellent fight from Brian.

Results: Brian Kelleher def. Domingo Pilarte via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Austin Lingo vs. Luis Saldana (Featherweight):

Round 1: Saldana opened with a huge kick to the body. Lingo attacked with a flurry of punches as Luis with another body kick. Lingo looked to keep the pressure up and pressed his opponent with punches. Back and forth swinging for both the fighters. Spinning kick from Saldana and big punches traded. Saldana is staying calm and light on his feet while Lingo seems very aggressive. Round ends with a spinning back fist.

Round 2: A low kick to start off the second round from Lingo. Lingo seemed to have lightning-fast hands. Saldana takes the fight to the canvas. Lingo defended well and was right back up. Lingo was not afraid to go up to the opponent’s face and start throwing haymakers. Lingo with a lot of punches scoring but nothing that seemed to damage his opponent. Huge haymakers attempted by Lingo. Austin showed no mercy as he went at Saldana till the round ended.

Round 3: Lingo once again acted as the aggressor as the final round began. Saldana for the takedown but it is defended very well by his opponent. A lot of punches landing for Lingo. Saldana seemed to have no gas in his tank. An amazing left hook from Lingo landed. Saldana is barely landing punches on the opponent. Saldana finally took Lingo down in the final round and is able to keep him down for a little while but Lingo stood back up. The UFC Vegas 34 preliminary card ends.

Results: Austin Lingo def. Luis Saldana via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
