The first fight of the main card of UFC Vegas 35 is here. It is an amazing middleweight battle of Makhmud Muradov vs Gerald Meerschaert.
UFC Vegas 35 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a spectacular featherweight bout between Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze. As far as this middleweight fight is concerned, Makhmud Muradov is coming off three straight wins in the UFC. Out of his last three fights, two of them have come via finishes. His last fight was against Andrew Sanchez at UFC 257 at the beginning of 2021 whom he beat via TKO in the third round. He has a record of 25-6-0 in his career.
Meanwhile, for his opponent, Gerald Meerschaert, this is his second fight of 2021. He is coming off a submission win against Bartosz Fabinski in April. Prior to that win, he was on a two-fight losing skid. Gerald is a veteran of the sport and has a record of 32-14-0 in his professional MMA career. Gerald Meerschaert submits Muradov at UFC Vegas 35
Round 1: A great start to the fight as Meerschaert did not waste any time to act the aggressor and attack. Muradov not holding back either and landed a right hand immediately. The fight takes off at a good pace but has to stop on account of an eye poke by Meerschaert towards Muradov. Fight resumes and both the fighters in a crazy exchange. Meerschaert might have been hurt real bad by the hands of Muradov. The fight once again stopped because of a shot to the crotch by Meerschaert once again. Both the fighters exchange during the restart. Great kicks from both the fighters. End to a great round.
Round 2: Meerschaert once again is not afraid to be the aggressor so walks right through a strong right hand by Muradov. An amazing display of chin by the veteran. A low kick from Muradov. Both the fighters trade some amazing hands. The fight is taken to the floor by Gerald. Somehow Meerschaert grabs the neck of Muradov and squeezes tight. Muradov has no option but tap.
