The Lightweight contest of UFC Vegas 44 fight card features the fight between the longtime UFC veteran, Clay Guida facing the surging prospect in the division Leonardo Santos. Guida is one of the pioneers of modern MMA and he is coming into this fight with a split decision loss in his last fight against Mark Madsen at UFC on ESPN: Cannonier vs Gastelum.

Santos also stepped into this fight at UFC Vegas 44 with a loss against Grant Dawson in his last fight at UFC on ESPN: Brunson vs Holland.

Round 1: Guida started the fight in his trademark hopping style and Santos lands a leg kick to start the striking. He lands one more outside leg kick and Guida answers him with a punch of his own. Santos started landing a fury of punches on Guida and he drops Guida to the canvas via knee. Keith Peterson allowed the action to continue and Guida tries to defend himself from the pressure of Santos.

Guida defends himself well and lifts up Santos and dropped him on the canvas. He landed a few elbows from the top as the round ends. Santos seems to win this round by 10-8.

Round 2: Guida still looked fresh at the start and Santos looks really tired. Guida senses his movement and secures a takedown. He grabs a hold of his back and got the rear-naked choke lock-in, Guida squeezes and Santos taps.
