The first event of 2022 has turned out to be an absolute stunner as UFC Vegas 46 comes through with an amazing featherweight fight of Calvin Kattar vs Giga Chikadze in the main event.

There was no way a featherweight showdown between two of the best strikers in the featherweight division was ever going to disappoint the fans. Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze met each other in the main event of UFC Vegas 46 to prove one of them is worthy of a title shot. The fight took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Featherweight veteran Kattar showed why he is one of the best in the world as he completely dominated the rising star Giga for five rounds. Chikadze won the fight via unanimous decision but Chikadze earned the respect of millions of fans for showing grit and staying on his feet despite being on the receiving end of a Calvin beating. Calvin’s performance got the UFC featherweight champion himself lauding him. The Australian Alexander Volkanovski was beyond impressed with his colleague’s performance. “Now you know!! Congratulations” wrote Alex praising Calvin Kattar’s performance.

Calvin’s most fierce rival, Max Holloway had to bow down to this striking masterclass. Kattar replicated what Holloway did to him when they both met each other in the octagon. “Congrats what a performance,” wrote Max after the fight.

Kattar’s performance was so good that the best fighter in the world right now was tuned it and impressed with the performance. “What a fight,” wrote Kamaru Usman, the world’s number one pound-for-pound champion.

Calvin was coming off a long layoff. It has been exactly one year since Kattar last fought in the UFC. Welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad was stunned by Kattar’s comeback to the octagon. “Wow that’s how you come back after a long layoff,” wrote Belal.

UFC’s Michael Chandler, who is also known for his scraps and amazing performances in the octagon wasn’t going to miss out on a Kattar fight. “Goodness. Kattar is one of my favorites to watch. Always crisp and technical. Always game. Heart and swagger” wrote Michael after watching the fight.

The Kattar vs Chikadze fight got UFC superstar Dustin Poirier itching to get back into the octagon. He recently lost a title fight in December 2021. “This makes me want to fight! Great pace great output!!” wrote Dustin on his Twitter.

Some of the other stars that reacted to this fight are Justin Gaethje, Jeremy Stephens, Terrance McKinney, Jamahal Hill. All these fighters had some amazing reactions to the barn-burner of a fight at the UFC Apex.
