This fight event was initially booked to be headlined by the former champion Rafael Dos Anjos and rising lightweight Rafael Fiziev. Owing to visa issues, the fight had to be canceled and the opportunity came knocking for the two light heavyweights to step up and they did not hesitate one bit. Though the two have an extra two rounds of fighting to be done on paper, Walker and Hill are certain they won’t need all of them.
Johnny Walker is ranked at #10 in the light heavyweight division and is looking to bounce back from his loss against Thiago Santos in 2021. The fighter is a veteran of the sport and has a record of 18-6-0 in his professional career. Walker has not managed to accumulate a winning streak since 2019.
Walker is known for finishing his opponents and has only two fights that have gone the distance in his UFC career and both ended up handing defeats to the Brazilian. The fighter is 4-3 in the UFC with all his wins coming from knockouts. A win against Hill at UFC Vegas 48 could see Walker opening the chances to match up against someone higher in the rankings.

Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill is fairly new to the sport of MMA and UFC when compared to his opponent at UFC Vegas 48. Hill is an exciting prospect and is looking to build himself a very strong resume in the UFC. The fighter made his debut in the year 2020 and has already fought five times in the last two years. The fight against Johnny Walker will be his first fight of 2022.
Hill is currently ranked at #12 and a win this weekend could see him becoming a top 10 light heavyweight in the world. Jamahal has some exciting performances in the UFC which include a TKO win over veteran Ovince Saint Preux and first-round KO win against Jimmy Crute.

This is a very interesting matchup stylistically for both the fighters. Jamahal stands tall at a height of 6’4” and with a reach of 79”. The fighter is known for his unorthodox style of fighting and depends a lot on his reach to help him deliver the equalizer which will pose a threat to anyone standing opposite to “Sweet Dreams” in the octagon.
However, Walker is not one to take things by the books either. Johnny Walker is one of the craziest fighters in the octagon. There is always a potential for the Brazilian to pull off something out of the blue in his fights. Hill is also paired against someone who is taller than him and has a better reach. It will be interesting to see how the fighter plays that out.
Hill has previously shown that he could be vulnerable in the ground when he was matched up against Paul Craig. It took Craig less than two minutes to snap Jamahal’s arm at UFC 263. It will be interesting to see which fighter keeps their calm and waits to find the right distance before landing their big shots. Despite the lack of experience, Hill opens as the favorite with -250 while the veteran, Walker is a +200 underdog.
