Makhachev is currently on a nine-fight win streak and looking for a title shot in the near future. In order to do that he would have to finish Green as soon as possible inside the octagon.

Green on the other hand is also coming off a decent decision win against Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271. A win against a rising prospect and elite fighter like Makhachev will make him jump a lot higher in UFC rankings. He is certainly ready to give fight fans the biggest upset of the year.

However, in order to do that Green has to fight in the most efficient way and show elite wrestling. Needless to say, Islam is currently one of the best wrestlers inside the octagon so to defend his takedown attempts, Green has to do something special.

Recently, Islam Joked about Green’s wrestling when DC stated Bibby having a wrestling background. In ESPN’s DC and RC show, DC asked Islam, if people are forgetting how good of a wrestler Green is. To which the Dagestani started laughing and said maybe because “he watches wrestling matches“.

Islam Makhachev was again asked about Green’s wrestling while giving an interview to Megan Olivi on ESPN MMA. He responded by saying that even though DC says Green has some good wrestling, Islam has never seen him wrestle in any of his fights.

I don’t believe he has good wrestling. DC says something about his wrestling but I never see him wrestle.” Said, Islam. It is to be informed that Green has a decent 72% of takedown defense. He also has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But, even that looks trivial in front of Makhachev’s numbers and experience.

Nevertheless, Green has to prove his potential this Saturday in either way. He might not get one such opportunity to face someone in the top 5 while sitting outside the rankings. So, he needs to give the best of himself to prove everyone wrong.
