UFC Vegas 51: Caio Borralho ends Gadzhi Omargadzhiev fight in an undesirable fashion, gets technical decision win at UFC debut

UFC Middleweight Caio Borralho might not have got the job done completely against Gadzhi Omargadzhiev at UFC Vegas 51 but the Brazilian showed an exceptional level of explosiveness on the feet and immense strength on the ground. Caio could’ve got the job done fairly as he was dominating throughout the fight but until the last minute of the last round, the middleweight lands an illegal knee on Gadzhi
Round 1: A series of high kicks from Caio Borralho. Gadzhi returns with one kick. Counter right from Gadzhi. Gadzhi catches one of Caio’s kicks and goes for a takedown. But Caio turns the tide as he sweeps Gadzhi to the ground and gets on top position. Caio stands up for a while and returns back to Gadzhi’s guard whilst taking an up kick from the latter. Caio is now taking Gadzhi’s back and the body lock is secured. Caio is throwing some massive reverse elbows while having the back control. Gadzhi is so far avoiding getting choked. The round ends. FirstSportz scores it a 10-8 for Caio.

Round 2: Gadzhi starts off with a roundhouse and a spinning kick with the same leg. Gadzhi lands a body kick. Caio nearly perfects a flying knee and it seemed Gadzhi was hurt for a while. Over-commitment to an attack leads Gadzhi to fall for Caio’s hands that grab the former in back control. While Gadzhi tries to escape by standing up, Caio threatens his opponent with a Suloev stretch submission. Caio has more than 3.5 minutes of control time so far. The fight ends similar to round one. Another 10-8 for Caio.
Round 3: Gadzhi goes for some serious power shots. He realises he needs to get Caio Barralho out. He gets Caio cage side. An accidental low blow from Gadzhi in a hurry stops the fight for a while. Gadzhi is seriously considering a high kick knockout. A flying knee attempt from Caio is stopped by a straight from Gadzhi. Gadzhi is now looking for straight punch knockouts. However, the imbalance makes Gadzhi give up his back to Caio, yet again. Gadzhi somehow gets out of the back control and gets hold of Caio’s leg.
Caio escapes and pounces on Gadzhi to get hold of the latter’s back again. Caio lands a knee on the face of Gadzhi, the latter’s hand was on the ground so it’s illegal. The fight is stopped as Caio is the one this time on the foul side. The fight is stopped for longer than expected as a medical consultation is being considered at this point. Caio was winning the fight so far. But the fight is officially waved off now. The fight is regardless going to the judges’ scorecards as per referee Dan Miragliotta’s final word.
