Claudio Puelles beats Clay Guida
The card may not be stacked but the co-main event features a lightweight bout between UFC veteran Clay Guida and Claudio Puelles. It is a stepping stone for Puelles. Clay Guida is one of the last active OGs of the sport. While Puelles is one of the top prospects with a pretty decent run in the UFC with the competition he has faced as of yet.
Puelles was a favorite going into the bout and rightfully so. Puelles is on a four-fight win streak, including two submission victories. The fight was referred to by Herb Dean.
Claudio Puelles secures the biggest win of his career against Clay Guida
Round 1– Guida trying to close the distance being the shorter fighter, planning to shoot for the legs while also circling away from his punches. Guida changes his level and takes him down. Puelles attempts a triangle choke followed by an armbar. Guida sets himself free however Puelles quickly transitions into a knee-bar giving no option to Guida to do nothing but quickly tap to it. Puelles wins via submission. Third kneebar submission for him in the UFC.
