UFC Vegas 7 Results: Frankie Edgar goes for a remarkable debut

LAS Vegas: Compared to past events, this was probably one of the weakest cards. Frankie Edgar vs Pedro Munhoz featured the UFC Las Vegas 7 main card. Check out the full results below to know who walked out victorious:

#1 Trevin Jones vs. Timur Valiev
Round 1 – None of the two waste time in running around and start kicking each other in the first round. Valiev is highly aggressive with kicks early and makes Jones hesitant to close distance. Valiev lands a good kick to Jones body, followed by a knee to the face.
Valiev gets success using his combos of kicks and punches. Valiev lands a hard kick on Jones’ body and Jones goes down on the mat. Then Valiev starts pouring punches and Jones somehow survives till the last minute. In the last 20 seconds, Jones manages a takedown and the round ends. First round ends with Valiev dominant and scoreboard shows 10-8.
Round 2 – Jones goes aggressive now and tries a takedown but fails. Valiev comes in the rhythm again and attacks the left side of Jones. Although Jones seems to counter these attacks, he is not able to pull trigger with Valiev’s movement. But suddenly, Jones lands a big right hook out of nowhere for a takedown. Valiev goes down and Jones starts punching hard until ref steps in.
The fight is called of and Trevin Jones is declared winner via TKO (punches) at 1:59 of 2nd round.

#2 Carlton Minus vs. Matthew Semelsberger
Round 1 – Soon after both touch gloves, Semelsberger lands a leg kick but Minus answers it with a straight kick. Now, Semelsberger lands another leg kick throwing Minus off balance. Semelsberger throws a flurry of punches but Minus disengages. Minus finds success by throwing a right hand. Semelsberger throws a nice 1-2 which gets Minus staggering and closes the distance. At the end of the first round, score is the 10-9 as Semelsberger seemed to have landed more.
Round 2 – Both the fighters start throwing jabs early paving way for an exchange of 1-2 combos. Semelsberger lands a nice combo that backs up Minus. Semelsberger hits the nose on a hard counter right hand but Minus gives up his back. He works on a choke from the bottom but Minus is smart with dealing this.
Semelsberger gets a body lock, preventing Minus from escaping. Minus finally gets up and hits one of his best punches when one minute remains. But Semelsberger fires back with a hard left hand. At the end, the round again goes in Semelsberger’s favour with score of 10-9 again.
Round 3 – Minus picks up the offense early and throws open but gets no success. Semelsberger waits for his opportunity and throws a high kick but instantly pops up. This continues until Semelsberger goes for a takedown at 2:30. However, he can’t do much with this Takedown. Both separate again, standing as 90 seconds are left. Minus continues to throw punches in open but Semelsberger also continues to throw harder counter punches. The things go on like this until the 3rd round ends.

#3 Ike Villanueva vs. Jordan Wright
Round 1 – Wright goes aggressive early and lands a spinning kick that glances the side of Villanueva’s head and drops him. Villanueva gets back up to his feet and they clinch against the cage. But Villanueva has blood leaking from somewhere on his face and referee calls for a timeout. The doctor comes in and it is found that it is a nasty cut on the inside of his eye. Doctor calls and fight is over. Later, the replay shows that it was a knee in the clinch against cage that caused the cut.

#4 Mizuki Inoue vs. Amanda Lemos
Round 1 – Mizuki tries to close the distance but fails as Lemos counters with a left hook. After some moments, they engage in a clinch against the cage. Lemos is back to offense but none seems to get any advantage. They separate and Lemos throws a four-punch but that is blocked. Mizuki tries to close the distance again and suffers a first big ounch that drops her down. Lemos lets Mizuki back on feet and the round ends. The score goes to 10-9.
Round 2 – Mizuki successfully closes the distance now with a straight that ends in a clinch. They struggle again and Mizuki lands some elbows. After elbows, both start to incorporate knees. Mizuki throws Lemos down, but Lemos throws her legs up and Mizuki goes down. Mizuki tries to get up but fails until Lemos lets her. Mizuki tries again to be dominant but round goes again to 10-9.
Round 3 – The fight starts with Mizuki landing a leg kick. Both exchange kicks until Mizuki closes the distance and lands Lemos flat against the fence. They separate and then again get into a clinch. They separate again before 2 minutes remaining. Mizuki again tries to close the distance but suffers an elbow this time. This doesn’t has any effect on Mizuki and she again closes the distance leading into another clinch. Lemos now lands a nice knee and they separate again. The fight ends with Mizuki’s pressure coming and score again goes in Lemos’ favour as 10-9.

#5 Dwight Grant vs. Daniel Rodriguez
Round 1 – Both the fighters look aggressive and land kicks wildly. Grant lands a knee followed by a punch to the body. Rodriguez throws but Grant counters and floors Rodriguez. Grant gets on him and starts pouring punches. Grant continues the assualt but Rodriguez is doing enough to move around and prevent the stoppage. He finally manages to get up. Both men connect hard shots and Rodriguez attacks. Grant lands a counter but Rodriguez floors him and whacks some hard punches a few more times until referee steps. With this Rodriguez kept his winning streak going on.

#6 Mariya Agapova vs. Shana Dobson
Round 1 – Both come out throwing punches and Dubson eats a shot from Agapova but gets a takedown. Agapova tries submission and gets back. Now, the two get into a clinch and Agapova hates Dubson down. She gets up and stands over Dusbson. She now tries a cartwheel attack but Dubson pushes her away and gets up. They exchange punches Dubson gets another takedown. Dubson gets hold of her arm but Agapova gets up back. Agapova gets a body lock but doesn’t get her arms free. She finally gets and starts pouring. But Dobson rolls and escapes. The round then ends with score of 10-9.
Round 2 – Agapova immediately takes fight back but she gets in Dobson’s guard. Dobson rolls again and lands hard. Referee takes a look and Dobson continues to land hard punches. Dobson continues to land punches until referee calls the fight off.

#7 Austin Hubbard vs. Joe Solecki
Round 1 – Hubbard lands a body kick but Solecki fires back with punches and misses. Both the fighters exchange and Solecki gets aggressive. Solecki ties up with Hubbard against the fence. They again get into a clinch but again move away.
Solecki walks Hubbard to another side of the cage and lands punches. Solecki again tries to drag Him down but Hubbard is still upright. He works for a choke, Hubbard fights back. He again goes for it and gets it this time. Solecki gets a rear-naked choke from the back position and Hubbard submits.

#8 Marcin Prachnio vs. Mike Rodriguez
Round 1 – Rodriguez stalks early and leaps for a flying knee. But Prachnio ties him up and pushes him against the fence. Rodriguez reverses the position but Prachnio also reverses. Rodriguez continues the reversal and in between lands a series of hard knees. Now, Rodriguez lands a hard elbow and Prachnio goes down. Rodriguez gets over him and lands a series if hard punches until Prachnio goes out and referee steps in.

#9 Pedro Munhoz vs Frankie Edgar
Round 1 – The highly awaited showdown starts with both fighters firing and slipping. Edgard lands a punch and Munhoz comes aggressive but Edgard lands again. Munhoz lands a right hand and Edgar walks forward. Edgar extended his hand and lands a eye poke but the ref doesn’t interfere and Munhoz lands a punch. Edgar misses and Munhoz lands a combination followed by a leg kick. Munhoz stiffs Edgar with a jab and still tries to press Edgar with his footwork. Both fighters land again some punches and round goes off with 10-9.
Round 2 – Edgar lands early and Munhoz starts bleeding from above his right eye. Munhoz misses big punch and Edgar falls down. Edgar gets up and Munhoz again lands a punch. Edgar counters and takes Munhoz down. Somehow, they get up. Munhoz presses again and Edgar starts bleeding from nose. Munhoz throws a kick but Edgar goes for a takedown and Munhoz scoots away at the last moment. Munhoz lands a leg kick but Edgar continues to survive using his movement. Munhoz lands low on Edgar and the round ends as 9-10.
Round 3 – Munhoz throws a head kick early but Edgar block and lands a body kick. Munhoz strikes again and Edgar is circling. Edgar lands a combo and Munhoz lands too. Munhoz lands a leg kick and Edgar misses out. Edgar again goes for an overhand right and funky kick but misses out. The round ends with score as 29-28.
Round 4 – Munhoz goes early for a brief takedown and the fighters get up. Munhoz tries a high kick but Edgar blocks. The fighters exchange punches and kicks for the whole round. Some lands and some miss out, the round is over. The score goes 39-37.
Round 5 – Both fighters display their immense cardio. They open up and land. Munhoz lands back. Edgar tries a leg kick but Munhoz lands back a kick to his stomach. The fighters exchange again and Munhoz lands and misses kicks. Edgar lands a combination and Munhoz attacks back. But Edgar blocks most of this attack and Munhoz jabs. Munhoz lands a kick. Edgar resets and throws. Munhoz lands a leg kick. Edgar lands a right hand. Now, the duo exchange again and Munhoz lands a kick. The round is over as well as fight.
