Vicente Luque currently has his eyes on everyone in the welterweight division. He is all set to take on Belal Muhammad in the upcoming edition of UFC on ESPN this weekend.
Moreover, this is not the first time the pair will face each other inside the octagon. The last time, they met was at UFC 205 where Luque won via KO. This is an extremely important match-up as the future of the division can get effected by this fight.
Earlier it was speculated that the fight between Muhammad and Luque will decide the number one contender. But, now with Chimaev winning at UFC 273 things have changed and it’s still not confirmed who will challenge Kamaru Usman next.

“It would be much tougher for Khamzat” – Vicente Luque on Khamzat Chimaev vs Colby Covington
Ahead of his fight against Muhammad, Vicente Luque appeared on the UFC on ESPN 34 media day. During the intercation, the fighter was asked to give his opinion on the fight between fellow welterweight, Chimaev and Covington.
Luque revealed that the fight between Covington and Chimaev is very interesting. The fighter explained that Covington has the ability to tire his opponents and the fight will surely continue for five rounds. According to Luque, it’s going to be harder fight for ‘The Borz’ than the one against Gilbert Burns. In the end, the fighter asked to see some more action from Chimaev.
“That’s an interesting one you know, him and Colby. Colby is I don’t know, he can grind guys out and definitely that would be a five roun. So, I think it would be much tougher for Khamzat. But we will see. I don’t know, I still wanna see more of him,” said Vicente Luque.
Before fighting with Burns, Chimaev was just a hype train for his future opponets. But now after what happened at UFC 273, others are starting to take him more seriously and the same goes with Luque who is #5 in the rankings. Anyways, it will be interesting to see how this division which is stacked with killers will pan out at the end.
