WATCH: Dana White’s hilarious reaction to finding out Nate Diaz wants to fight Francis Ngannou
Dana White reacts to Nate Diaz wanting Francis Ngannou in a fight
Dana White has never entertained bizarre questions during press conferences. The UFC boss is brutally honest when talking to the media and recently he reacts to UFC superstar Nate Diaz revealing he wants to fight Francis Ngannou.
Nate Diaz has been in the headlines the whole week after his viral interview with Ariel Helwani on MMA Hour. The Stockton Slugger accused the UFC of holding him hostage by not giving him any fights. The welterweight fighter wants out of the UFC and demands to be released. However, he still has a fight left in his contract. In a recent interview, Nate suggested that the only worthy opponents in the UFC right now were Francis Ngannou, the heavyweight champion of the promotion, and Israel Adesanya, the middleweight champion.
Dana White returned to work after a vacation at UFC Long Island. In the press conference, the UFC President was asked about his thoughts on Nate wanting to fight Francis in his last fight. It is not often that Dana is left speechless but this question surely took him out. “What should I say to that?” Dana replied to the reporter that asked him about Diaz vs Ngannou fight possibility.
“This is crazy” Dana White can’t wrap his mind around the idea of Nate fighting Francis
“Imagine having a f**king conversation like that. I mean, come on. Nate Diaz vs Francis Ngannou…what should I say? I’m standing there like, ‘HOLY SH*T. This is crazy.'” Dana could not believe that this would even be a question. Nate is notorious for saying wild stuff in interviews. The fighter is on his last fight and will do everything in his power to get out of the promotion as soon as possible.
Diaz also reveals that he has not been offered a legitimate fight offer in the last nine months. Nate since his last fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 263 in June of 2021, has asked for several opponents but the UFC has sidelined the superstar for quite some time now. Dana has also said that Khamzat Chimaev was offered to Diaz but was rejected by the star.
All things so far between UFC and Nate suggest that the promotion wants Diaz to complete his trilogy against Conor McGregor who is currently out due to injury and is expected to return in 2022.
