Watch: Kevin Holland displays absolute savagery while being choked out by Alex Oliveira at UFC 272

Kevin Holland shows thumbsup while in choke
Kevin Holland is in the run for the most entertaining fighter in the UFC. In his first fight since he moved down a weight class, at UFC 272 Holland was all fireworks as usual. Holland had an amazing 2020 where he won 5 victories in a single year, however, after his losses in 2021 Holland decided to change his weight class in search of success.
Holland fought Brazilian Alex Oliveira. In the first round they traded huge shots, the firefight saw both fighters take damage. Towards the end of the first round, Oliveira was able to secure a takedown and had Holland in trouble. However, Oliveira’s submission attempt didn’t faze Holland at all. Holland calmly gave the referee a thumbs up to show that he was okay while being choked and waited out the clock instead of trying to escape and wasting energy. If anything Holland looked bored while being choked.
Holland made short work of Oliveira in the second round where, during an exchange, Holland’s left hand rocked Oliveira and put him to the ground. From here he rained down elbows and punches that led to an early second-round TKO victory for Holland. A beautiful debut at Welterweight for Holland

“My lungs didn’t even get tired, that was awesome,” Kevin Holland reflects upon his performance at UFC 272

During the post-fight press conference, Holland said that going down in weight was probably something he should’ve done long ago. About the choke Oliveira had on him, Holland said that he was instructed by the referee to not say anything and show him something, so when Holland was in a choke he showed the referee a double thumbs up. Classic Holland. Holland called out Cowboy Cerrone after the fight but it seems like he doesn’t care who his next opponent is.
