Alex Pereira and Colby Covington meet for the first time
Israel Adesanya’s arch-nemesis, Alex Pereira has been training in gyms in America for quite some time now. The former kickboxing champion ran into UFC superstar Colby Covington in one of his recent training camps in America.
Colby Covington and Brazilians are names that don’t go well together. However, the controversial fighter’s meeting with Brazilian martial artist, Alex Pereira was not as quite tense as many would believe. Though Covington is guilty of brutally disrespecting the country of Brazil and its countrymen, the fighter sure did have a very pleasant interaction with UFC 276 star Alex Pereira.
Before stepping into MMA, Pereira had a very decorated career in kickboxing. “Poatan” is a former two-division GLORY champion and in one of his past fights in Miami, Alex had the opportunity to train in the very famous American Top Team gym. During his time at the ATT, Pereira and his sister Aline got to meet Covington and take pictures with the welterweight star. The two had a very pleasant interaction. It is worth mentioning that this meeting took place when “Chaos” was still training with ATT in Miami, Florida. Watch the meeting between the two fighters below:

Will Alex Pereira fight for the UFC title?
Alex “Poatan” Pereira will have all fight fans paying close attention to his fight at UFC 276 this weekend. The former kickboxing champion takes a huge leap in competition as he takes on the #4 ranked Sean Strickland in a potential title contender fight in the UFC after only two fights under the promotion. The fighter will be going against a veteran of the sport.
Another significance to this weekend’s pay-per-view event is Pereira’s nemesis from his kickboxing days will be headlining the event. Israel Adesanya, the undefeated middleweight champion will also be paying a close watch to the fight on the undercard as Izzy gets an opportunity to seek revenge against Pereira.
Alex is the only fighter in the world to knock out Israel Adesanya in a professional fight. The Brazilian secured a highlight-reel knockout against “The Last Stylebender” in their kickboxing match. The history between Adesanya and Pereira has surely played a huge role in the UFC fixture between Alex and Sean.
