UFC is the premiere promotion when it comes to MMA and has been in the business for over 30 years. The promotion is the biggest stage where MMA fighters all around the world come to showcase their talent and earn recognition.
Naturally, the UFC as an organization is huge, and a lot of work goes into the fight nights. In order to give fans an idea of this, recently UFC announcer Brendan Fitzgerald made an Instagram reel showing the inside of the UFC warehouse.
In the short video, Fitzgerald showed the racks of a huge collection of project rock shoes for every fighter in each size. He also showed fight kits which were arranged by size, style, and color. There was also a wall filled with posters, signed by fighters from past events.
Fitzgerald then talked about the iconic UFC championship belts and how much money it takes to build one. He said: “It is heavy. The strap is genuine leather, the face of it gold plated. All of these trophy belts costs the UFC $8000 dollars to make each one.”
After that, Fitzgerald showed this year’s 30th anniversary MMA gloves for fighters. The warehouse also had canvases from past and upcoming events with instruments to set off the octagon in every new venue.
The controversial collaboration between UFC and The Project Rock shoes
Last year in August, Project Rock, a collaboration between Dwayne Johnson and Under Armour to produce co-branded footwear that would be supplied to athletes as part of their official fighting gear, and the UFC announced a multi-year relationship with Project Rock.
During fight-week activities, exercises, and the journey to the octagon, all UFC fighters and corner teams are required to wear Project Rock footwear without any exception.
However, it created a lot of issues when reports surfaced about fighters not getting any benefits from the deal. Although the campaign’s tagline is “For those who walk the walk,” it appears that the brand’s dedication to fighters does not include their bank accounts.
One of the most embarrassing moments took place at UFC 279 when Nate Diaz made fun of the sneakers during an interview with Megan Olivi, which caused an awkward situation for the promotion.
