The Korean Zombie made his UFC debut in March 2011 at UFC Fight Night 24, where he defeated Leonard Garcia by submission. Jung competed primarily in the featherweight division (145 pounds) and quickly gained a reputation for his aggressive fighting style and memorable performances.

He had a notable title shot against Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship at UFC 163 in August 2013, but he lost the fight. After that, the fighter had to stay away from fighting for four long years. It happened due to mandatory military service in South Korea.

In 2017, he made an impressive return, triumphing over Dennis Bermudez with a knockout that signaled his resurgence. Yet, a year later, his winning streak was discontinued as he faced defeat at the hands of Yair Rodriguez. Despite this setback, he rallied, securing victories that propelled him towards a second title opportunity. This chance arrived at UFC 273, where he faced Alexander Volkanovski. Regrettably, victory escaped him once again, with the match concluding with a TKO against him. Nonetheless, he stands among those fighters who’ve won the hearts of fans without clinching a championship title.

In 2023, Chan Sung fought his last UFC battle with Max Holloway and unfortunately lost the fight via KO. Immediately, after the fight, he declared his retirement, implying that he isn’t capable of fighting at the top anymore.
