Alarming news has been making waves across social media platforms, as recent reports suggest that UFC featherweight contender Khusein Askhabov, commonly referred to as ‘Nohcho,’ has been arrested in the picturesque locale of Phuket, Thailand.
Khasan Askhabov‘s arrest happened alongside his brother’s, as they both find themselves in a serious legal matter, involving the purported kidnapping, torment, and financial extortion of an Italian national. This situation has put them in a tough spot, and it’s causing a lot of attention, not just in Phuket but all around the world.
As per the PhuketNews report from September 3rd, three Kazakh men forcibly entered the villa of an Italian tourist. In a distressing sequence of events, these individuals are said to have then allegedly carried out a kidnapping, and robbery, and subjected the tourist to several hours of torture.
The individual reported that he fell victim to the robbery, in which he was deprived of numerous valuable items. These included a Rolex watch, a Patek Philippe ‘Nautilus’ wristwatch, a GRAFF watch, a MacBook, several iPhones, a collection of sunglasses, and an approximate amount of $43,000 in cash.

UFC cancels the upcoming fight between Khusein Askhabov and Daniel Pineda
In response to the arrest of Khusein Askhabov due to his alleged involvement in a kidnapping and robbery case in Thailand, the UFC has decided to call off the scheduled featherweight fight between Askhabov and Daniel Pineda, which was scheduled for next month. The promotion informed ESPN of this decision on Monday, shortly after reports of Askhabov’s arrest emerged. Askhabov’s management team opted not to provide any comments regarding the situation.
The official statement read, “UFC is aware of the recent arrest and allegations regarding Khusein Askhabov. The organization will continue to gather additional details regarding the incident. UFC will allow the legal process to play out before making any additional statements. However, his scheduled fight on October 7 has been canceled.”
Khusein Askhabov is from Chechnya, but trains in Thailand. He began his professional MMA journey in March 2012, and he established an extended and dominant winning streak. ‘Nacho’ Entered the UFC with an impressive undefeated record of 23-0 in his professional MMA career. At the age of 28, Askhabov made his much-anticipated UFC debut in February 2023, where he faced off against Jamall Emmers in an intense featherweight bout. Unfortunately, the night did not unfold favorably for Askhabov, as he lost the bout via unanimous decision. Askhabov has had six UFC fights booked in two years but has only been able to fight once.
