“Will definitely help you out”- Henry Cejudo vows to train Khamzat Chimaev for a fight against Israel Adesanya
Khamzat Chimaev- Henry Cejudo
UFC Welterweight Khamzat Chimaev has already shown that he is open to going to different places to learn more about the art of MMA and Henry Cejudo is open to welcoming Chimaev at his place as well. Cejudo, an Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling and former 2-division UFC champion, is indicating his return subtly after having left the sport back in April 2020. Not only did Cejudo capture both the titles of flyweight and bantamweight in his prime but also defended them as well.
Now Cejudo does an active and outstanding job as a coach with him training and tutoring more about the sport of MMA to the likes of Jon Jones, Jiri Prochazka, Deiveson Figueiredo and Zhang Weili. Cejudo, however, has shown in the past as well that he has a special interest in a special athlete in Khamzat Chimaev, who trains in Sweden’s All-Stars Training Center. Chimaev is 4-0 in the UFC and what is unique about this mini-record so far is that Chimaev has only been hit twice inside the octagon throughout all his fights and won the first two fights within a span of just 10 days.
Henry Cejudo might not train Khamzat Chimaev under “this” condition
On his podcast titled The Triple C & Schmo Show, which is originally co-hosted alongside sports journalist Dave Schmulenson aka The Schmo, Henry Cejudo brought his MMA Headcoach, Captain Eric Albarracin due to Schmo’s unavailability. Cejudo then talked about that he is open to training Chimaev, but only under certain conditions.
“The only problem is this man, I can’t train Chimaev,” says Cejudo in the first go “He’s gonna fight the Nigerian Nightmare [UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman], but I will train him to how to help out that freaking Israel ‘Lasagna’ [Adesanya’s last name trolled] guy, I will definitely help you out for that one. But if you’re gonna fight the Nigerian Nightmare I’m about to be out Captain,” concludes Cejudo.
What do you make of Cejudo’s offer to train Chimaev, only the latter moves up to middleweight to fight the current #2 Pound for pound fighter, UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya? Do you think there’s a chance we might see Chimaev in Cejudo’s training centre sometime in the near future? Who do you think wins in a fight between Adesanya and Chimaev?
