The heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane will Kickstart the year 2022 with a banger pay-per-view event. These two will fight at UFC 270 which will take place inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on January 22. The bad blood between both these fighters has taken their rivalry two a whole new level. The significance and star power of these fighters have made this fight very huge.
Ngannou(16-3) has emerged as a brutal force of nature in these last few years. The French-Cameroonian, Knocked out everyone who came in his way to get the Heavyweight title which he got last year after defeating Stipe Miocic. Francis Ngannou outranks everyone in terms of sheer power and his outstanding takedown defense makes it even harder for opponents to create an opportunity to dominate. Ngannou has created a style for himself in which he successfully defends himself from getting hurt and being economical in his strikes. It’s going to take a lot for Gane to defeat a monster like Ngannou.
Gane(10-0) has broken every term of being a heavyweight fighter. His impressive athletic abilities and technical mastery make him one of the most unique fighters in the division. Since his UFC debut in 2019, Gane has gone through everyone in the division to get to this position. He has remained undefeated throughout his journey and has shown that he deserves this title shot. Gane‘s last fight was against Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 where he won the Interim UFC heavyweight championship and will be looking forward to unifying it soon.

The president of UFC seems to be enjoying the build-up for the Heavyweight bout on January 22. White recently did an interview with BT Sports where he described that this fight is one of the biggest heavyweight fights ever to take place in UFC. “This fight is ridiculous, the best heavyweight match-up ever, you got two guys that trained together, two guys that had a falling out now and don’t like each other. One guy has unbelievable knockout power and the other guy moves like a middleweight” said Dana.
White explained that the narrative behind the fight is amazing as two former roommates and training partners will settle their bad blood against each other after the split. White believes that stylistically also it is a huge fight as one is considered the biggest power puncher and the other is so agile that he moves like a middleweight. “You couldn’t ask for a better match-up.. you couldn’t write a better story than this,” said White.
