“You don’t get anywhere”- when Joe Rogan brutally trashed on video games for being a fun “waste of time”

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan is a strong voice of the MMA community, and sometimes, stronger for his own opinions as well which might sometimes hurt a certain group of people. Rogan, who first started off working as a comedian in the early 90s, made his big-time name out of being a colour commentator for the UFC for more than 2 decades and counting. Today, Rogan is one of the most well known and respected people in contemporary times of American society, thanks to his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

Rogan now recently was bashed for a number of things. Firstly, Rogan was blamed by media of a certain political leaning for spreading misinformation on Covid vaccines. But Rogan fought through these claims in a much calmer way talking about how he encourages all sides on his podcast to talk about their views about an issue as contentious as vaccination.

Then Rogan was reminded of a more than a decade old clip where he used the N-word after which he was protested by a majority of people to get his podcast taken down by Spotify. But a mass amount of support in favour of Rogan that proved that he is not racist backed him up and backfired on cancel culture.

Rogan’s debates on vaccination and the N-word use was not the first time Rogan got dropped into the waters of controversy. In the tweet below by E-Sports media outlet Dexerto captioned ““Video games a real problem. You know why? Because they’re f**king fun. You do them, and they’re real exciting, but you don’t get anywhere.” Joe Rogan has described video games as a “waste of time” for ‘most people'”

Watch the clip too as Rogan talks about the futility of playing games and how having obtained a skill in the physical world rather than a virtual one will help you have opportunities in life that can even give a proper way and sustinence for living. He uses an example of learning a skill from martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

What do you make of Rogan’s comments on video games? Do you agree with him or do you think the E-sports and their associated career options have grown and evolved leaps ahead of Rogan’s opinion back then? Where do you put Rogan amongst the pioneer personalities that helped popularise the sport of MMA?
