UFC Featherweight The Korean Zombie- Chan Sung Jung is one to have seen it all fighting at the top for 15 years, even wishing for his demise from one of his opponents’ nations. This, however, was for his first title fight back in 2013. In his second title fight that goes down this weekend, Jung is going to face UFC featherweight world champion, Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 273 in Jacksonville, Florida, the USA. The fight came to fruition after it was announced that preceding champion Max Holloway would be out for a trilogy against Volkanovski due to an injury.

Jung, also known by his nickname The Korean Zombie due to his reckless fighting style of coming forward offensively whilst taking blows to his face, is a WEC veteran that started fighting in the UFC after the takeover of WEC. Jung in his career has fought the likes of many big names and earned victories over some of them as well. Amongst those he couldn’t get the win against, is no shame but all honour, for it was featherweight MMA legend Jose Aldo himself.

Ahead of his Volkanovski title fight, Jung talks about his matchup against Volkanovski, his mentality going into the fight, his maturity, fighting with the top athletes for 15 years and much more at UFC 273 pre-fight media scrum. Jung also remembers the crazy experience of facing the Brazilian fans of UFC in 2013, due to the presence of his opponent and Brazil’s very own, then featherweight champion, Jose Aldo facing him in Brazil itself. Jung answered those questions via a translator.

“When he was in Brazil for the Aldo fight, a lot of the Brazilians out there, whenever they came across Zombie, they were like you’re probably gonna lose, you’re probably gonna die on the Octagon, says Jung (via translator) “So it was kind of threatening for him and he was kind of like nervous that happened but because of that experience right now he doesn’t care whoever walks up to him and says how the results going to be, he doesn’t really care.”

What do you make of Jung’s fight week experience of his first title fight dating back to 2013 against the timeless legend Jose Aldo is? Who do you think wins between The Korean Zombie and his opponent Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 273? The rest of the UFC 273 fight card comprises a bantamweight title rematch between interim-bantamweight champion Petr Yan and undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling. Also, a fight between former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns and upcoming MMA prospect Khamzat Chimaev is in the line as well.
