With the help of coach Khabib Nurmagomedov, cousin Umar Nurmagomedov has catapulted himself to the UFC bantamweight title picture out of nowhere. The fighter was ranked #10 before fighting Cory Sandhagen last weekend at UFC Abu Dhabi. Now, before the win, many fans and experts criticized his credentials to fight #2 ranked Sanhagen. Now, the undefeated star fires back at critics.

Top contender Merab Dvalishvili will fight Sean O’Malley for the title at the Las Vegas Sphere. Ahead of the fight, Dvalishvili showed his annoyance towards Umar Nurmagomedov‘s situation. He felt Nurmagomedov got the push due to his relationship with the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov. In retaliation, Umar asked others to stop complaining and gave a stern warning for the future.

Khabib played a huge part in helping his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov win the fight against Cory Sandhagen. Nurmagomedov outclassed ‘Sandman’ everywhere and performed well to solidify his position. Champion O’Malley credited him for his performance and has agreed to take the fight. However, his reasons for fighting Umar have something to do with making Conor McGregor jealous.

Umar Nurmagomedov has also given the example of O’Malley being #11 before fighting Petr Yan and becoming the number one contender. Irrespective of everything, many are not satisfied with Nurmagomedov getting the title shot this soon. However, according to some, the fighter deserves everything he’s getting.

Daniel Cormier is one of the sport’s legends who has watched Team Khabib up close. Regarding Umar Nurmagomedov, DC believes he is a better version of both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. Recently, the Hall of Famer went on to call Umar Nurmagomedov the best bantamweight. 

It's hard not to think that when you watch Umar Nurmagomedov, you aren't watching the best bantamweight in the world. I know how fearful many were before taking that fight with Umar.
