The Las Vegas Raiders and safety Trey Taylor made headlines when he used a Kermit the Frog doll to poke fun at Patrick Mahomes. The 3-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, however, was nonchalant when asked about the taunt. But when it comes to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, expect the perfect answer for such mindless acts.
CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Jones was at the Chiefs training camp and caught up with the head coach. When asked for a response to the whole Kermit the Frog depiction, Reid broke his silence.
We don't spend a lot of time here with puppets. We try to do our work and try to get better. That's the important thing.Andy Reid said
He essentially brushed aside all the mindless acts their division rivals were up to. After all, the Chiefs have won a lot of games against them in the past. Therefore, such taunts are pointless.
Andy Reid would rather prefer to work on what his team needs to do to get better. Especially with all the new players they have acquired over the off-season. If the practices help those newbies improve their personal game as well as work on their chemistry with the others, that’s all that will matter.
As it will come down to that level of play and chemistry when the two sides meet in the regular season. They have two games to play separated by a bit more than a month. The Raiders defense has improved. But it might not be enough to win against the likes of Patrick Mahomes and the upgraded offense.
Andy Reid can make this year’s offense the most potent of Chiefs’ era
The upgraded offense is a result of a lot of work the Kansas City Chiefs front office did during the offseason. He looked at the potential suspension of last year’s standout rookie Rashee Rice and went to work to ensure the team did not suffer. Marquise Brown via free agency, Xavier Worthy through the draft, and that is just the wide receiver room.
He picked Kingsley Suamataia to ensure the offensive line grows alongside the rest of the offense. Then extended core players, brought back Mecole Hardman and is now waiting to see what happens with Rice. With all of these additions and going by what Andy Reid can do with his wizardry on play calling, expect the Chiefs to start dialing up massive numbers on offense.
Unless injuries or off-field issues cause problems, the rest of the league should have their hands full. More importantly, the Las Vegas Raiders should be wary of what’s to come in those two games. They do not want Kermit the Frog to bite back at them.
