Gujarat Titans, the team that know not what defeat is, yet again took the victory away from Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets on Wednesday, April 27 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Chasing the target of 195, Gujarat Titans batting line up showed their brilliant skills and looked effortless in chasing the score in a thriller. They have just lost a single match by 8 wickets which they had to face against SRH in their previous game. So SRH became the first and only team in IPL 2022 to beat the strong Gujarat Titans so far. But in this match GT had the last laugh. Gujarat Titans follows Rajasthan Royals on the points table and SRH stands at the 3rd position.
Look at how Twitter praised Gujarat’s brilliant innings:
Gujarat beat SRH by 5 wickets
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. SRH opener Abhishek Sharma played a knock of 65 runs off 42 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Aiden Markram also played a half-century knock of 56 runs off 40 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.
And towards the end of the innings, Shashank Singh played a cameo role where on the last 3 balls of SRH’s innings, he skyed the ball for three sixes. He scored 25 runs off 6 balls with 1 four and the 3 sixes. SRH then were able to set a competitive target of 195/6 for Gujarat.
Gujarat responded with a brilliant game from opener Wriddhiman Saha’s 68 off 38 balls with 11 fours and a six. But he was stunned by a yorker from Umran Malik’s almost 153 KPH ball. The heat on the ball was just too much to handle as when Saha tried to squeeze it away, the ball went on to hit the base of leg stump and Malik seemed all pumped up. SRH has lost 5 wickets and all were scalped by Umran Malik only.
Rahul Tewatia played an unbeaten 40 off 21 balls by smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes. In the penultimate over, on the crease were Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia who were to smash somehow 21 runs. Rashid Khan showed his power hitting skills and skyed three huge sixes from Marco Jansen’s deliveries. He scored an unbeaten 31 off in just 11 runs with four sixes.
