Unlike Aaron Rodgers, Sauce Gardner refuses to criticize referees over MNF officiating

Instead of criticizing the officials for MNF loss like Aaron Rodgers, Jets' Sauce Gardner called for better performance from his team.

In recent times, the NFL officiating has become subject to scrutiny which continued in the recent Monday Night Football Game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. However, unlike the fans and his own team members, cornerback Sauce Gardner refused to criticize the officials, calling for better performance next time.

It happened after a few straightforward penalties were missed on the Bills’ player, including one that gave a late hit on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Following the game, the four-time NFL MVP didn’t hold back from calling out the referees in the game with a snarky South Park analogy

However, despite the disappointment of the tightly contested 23-20 defeat, Jets’ star cornerback Gardner maintained a level-headed perspective and acknowledged the inherent challenges that come with officiating in a league as big as the NFL.

The refs have a hard job. I don’t really have nothing to say about it. God didn’t make nobody perfect. We play an imperfect sport, we are imperfect players, imperfect refs on the field, & we get critiqued by imperfect people as well, so that’s just the reality of it. We’re just gonna continue to try and be better.

The series of penalties, 22 in total, imposed on both the Jets and Bills on Monday frustrated both the fanbases alike, and resulted in collective boos aimed at the NFL officials at night.

Sauce Gardner aside, Jeff Ulbrich acknowledges Jets’ penalty problems following loss to Buffalo

The Jets have sunk to a 2-4 season standings following this embarrassing loss at the hands of the Bills. This not only marked their third consecutive loss but also the first game without Robert Saleh as the head coach. After firing him last week, the team has made Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich the interim head coach.

Ulbrich addressed the alarming number of penalties imposed (32) on New York in the last three weeks, which cost them 382 yards. In the post-game press conference, he admitted some of the penalties as legitimate but gave the fans a sigh of relief by saying he would “take a hard look at” it.

After all the criticism the Jets received upon firing Saleh, they desperately need a victory to show stability and improvement in the offense. They recently acquired a veteran star Davante Adams to enhance the offense and also give rise to the great quarterback-wide receiver duo of him and Rodgers like they were in Green Bay.
