Kevin Owens will challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship at Bash in Berlin. The build-up to their feud has been very interesting, as these two superstars have been friends for the longest time and joined forces to take on The Bloodline. The duo also teamed up on the latest episode of SmackDown to take on A-Town Down Under.
After the show ended, Owens walked down the ramp and signed a few photographs. He high-fived fans with front-row seats near the ramp and walked backstage. Cody Rhodes followed him soon after to greet fans and sign memorabilia.
Rhodes was a guest on ‘The Grayson Waller Effect’ earlier during the show, where he had a confrontation with A-Town Down Under. The Australian alleged that his teammate would never betray him. However, the Prizefighter had a history of betraying his former teammates, and he would do the same to The American Nightmare.
Owens came out and claimed that he was a different man than he was before. He then threw out some right hands, accidentally hitting the WWE Undisputed Champion. This segment led to a tag team match between the former WWE Tag Team Champions and the champion & challenger. The former Universal Champion hit a pop-up powerbomb on Grayson Waller to pick up the pinfall victory.
Tensions continue to grow between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes on the latest episode of SmackDown
There has been a lot of tension between the champion and challenger leading up to their PLE match, and the latest episode of SmackDown was not free from this either. Grayson Waller had already tried to instigate Rhodes after pointing out that Owens was infamous for betraying his teammates and friends. During the same segment, the Canadian also hit the WWE Undisputed Champion with an accidental right hand.
Later, during a backstage segment, Kevin Owens asked his friend if he believed him when he claimed to be a changed man. The American Nightmare said that he trusted his friend, he would take him at his word, and they should focus on their match in the main event.
After the babyfaces picked up the victory, the Canadian teased turning on Rhodes. It appeared as if he was going to blast the American Nightmare with his own championship belt. However, Owens just forcefully threw it at him and walked away.
