WWE put a lot more focus on their women’s division in 2024. Not only did they introduce the NXT Women’s North American Championship, but they also introduced midcard titles on the main roster. The latest episode of Raw featured another new champion being crowned, with Lyra Valkyria taking home the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Following the show, Triple H posted a small behind-the-scenes photo with the new champion. He congratulated her on this achievement, and the two posed for a photo together. The King of Kings whispered something in her ear before the two superstars went on their way.
The latest episode of Monday Night Raw featured the finals of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament. Valkyria had beaten Iyo Sky in a terrific match to get to this point, and it did not look like she was going to go home empty-handed. This week, she had to take down Dakota Kai to win her first singles title on the main roster.
Congratulations to your first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion @Real_Valkyria.

The two superstars had an intense back-and-forth match. The Irish wrestler eventually emerged on top with a pinfall victory after hitting a Nightwing. Following her victory, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce presented her with the new belt. Furthermore, Kai re-entered the ring, and the two competitors embraced each other and raised each other’s hands.
Bronson Reed expresses his disapproval after Lyra Valkyria beats Dakota Kai in Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament finals
Similar to the finals of the Women’s US Championship tournament, both superstars in the match equally deserved to take home the prize. WWE could not have made any wrong decisions here. However, Bronson Reed posted a disappointed tweet following Lyra Valkyria’s victory, considering that he had declared his support for Dakota Kai ahead of the match.
Although there is no doubt that Kai also deserved this victory, Lyra Valkyria may be a better choice to establish this new title on the main roster. Firstly, she already has experience as a singles champion. She held the NXT Women’s Championship for a while, which she had won by beating a top name like Becky Lynch.

Not only is her in-ring work absolutely stellar, but WWE has done a good job of booking her consistently. Other superstars like Shayna Baszler were dominant on NXT but have been handled terribly on the main roster. Even Dakota Kai has not been a consistent singles star since being called up. However, Valkyria made an immediate splash on the main roster by making it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring, and it seems that WWE has placed a lot of trust in her.
