There’s been quite a discourse over the past 24 hours regarding Bobby Lashley‘s WWE contract expiration. Yesterday, it was reported that his deal would be up soon. Now, as per hashtag PWN, the deadline is August 10. Lashley’s former ally, MVP, was also removed from the internal roster and is expected to quit the company. If both were to leave, there’s already talk within the wrestling circles regarding their potential switch to AEW.

Moreover, as per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is working under the assumption that both Lashley and MVP will be parting ways soon. Furthermore, it’s believed that they’ll look to revamp The Hurt Business, possibly in AEW. Shelton Benjamin is also being considered to be brought on board. However, even if they do join AEW, everything will boil down to Tony Khan‘s approval.

Whether the name Hurt Business could be kept intact is a matter of who owns its rights. Nonetheless, the situation is heating up, to say the least. It’s not that WWE didn’t offer a new deal to The All Mighty. In fact, they did. However, it wasn’t one that immediately made the former WWE Champion jump to sign it. As of now, Bobby is actively looking for more options.

He’s still under a WWE contract, like MVP. But they’re leaning towards exiting the Stamford-based promotion. There’s already been an outpour of love for Lashley. Big E recently lauded The Dominator for the brute force of nature he is. The departing superstar last competed on SmackDown in April. He lost a triple-threat match to LA Knight and Santos Escobar. Since then, there’s been no sign of The All Mighty on WWE programming.

Was Triple H against the idea of reuniting The Hurt Business?

There’s a chunk of fans who believe that The Hurt Business was split prematurely. It was pretty much a Vince McMahon decision. However, one of the group’s founding members, MVP, tried to restore the act under the current regime.

In a series of Instagram posts last month, Montel Vontavious Porter revealed that Triple H said no to the idea of the reunion of The Hurt Business. MVP was last seen managing Omos, but neither of them have been on television for months now.

It’s not that vague to deduce that things didn’t pan out well between MVP and WWE CCO Triple H. Maybe that’s the reason why Porter and Bobby Lashley are on the verge of leaving the company. The situation is expected to escalate rather quickly.
