Travis Hunter wasn’t happy after Colorado let Nebraska score 28 in the first half. The Buffaloes corner/wide receiver vented his frustration on the sidelines.

The spirits never die in Colorado, but after their Week 1 win over NC State, the Buffaloes’ confidence was through the roof as they traveled to Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers. For the casuals, this was shaping up to be a revenge game for the Huskers after the Buffs beat them 36-14.

However, Deion Sanders’ side got off to the worst possible start as the Huskers scored 3 quick touchdowns with the help of Patrick Mahomes ‘lil cuzo’ Dylan Raiola. He fed Dante Dowdell for a 12-yard run and a 1-yard walk-in. Then he threw an 18-yard pass to Rahmir Johnson as Travis Hunter watched from the Buffaloes dugout.

The Huskers even forced a turnover from Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Tommy Hill took it over the red zone for a 7-yard pick-6.

Even in the trying times, Hunter managed to gain 110 yards from 10 receptions (11 yards per catch) but failed to move the score. The NBC cameras caught the two-way star visually upset near the touchline.

Hunter was seen smashing his helmet on the ground after speaking with Coach Deion Sanders. The microphone did not pick up anything on their conversation, so it’s unclear what Sanders told his star player that made him lose his cool.

Deion Sanders wants more recognition for Travis Hunter

The Buffaloes ended their first year under Deion Sanders with a 4-8 record, but two players stood out the most: Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Their draft stock skyrocketed, and some scouts and analysts predicted they would be drafted in the top 10.

However, neither of them was in the running for either the Heisman or Paul Hornung Award at the end of the season. This made Coach Prime angry, and he let his feelings be heard.

No one has seen a guy go both ways like he [Travis Hunter] goes. Yes, he can! That's what he does. That's all he knows. So how you gonna tell a man what he can't do? The scouts ask me every day, 'What is he?'

He further added that if the team that selects Hunter only uses him as an offensive player, then they will be missing out. Sanders thinks Hunter could easily become the best defensive back in the NFL.

If you put him on offense in the NFL and don't have him on defense, you are gonna look like a fool. Because he's gonna be the best defensive player not playing. And the same thing vice versa.

There’s no question that Travis Hunter is a top athlete. He can be a great asset for any team, but before thinking about the NFL, he needs to consistently prove himself in the college game. Yet, even after Sanders’ backing, there’s no guarantee professional teams will let Hunter play both ways.
