Murray loses to Auger-Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime

Andy Murray out of US Open after losing out to Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday night. The 15th seed dominated the match throughout. He collated a 52-9 edge in total winners, including 24 aces, and took 41 of the 46 points when he put his first serve in play.

The three-time Grand Slam champion is still working his way back from hip surgeries. “I need to build up my body and my conditioning,” Murray said post match.

Thiem wins against Nagal

Nagal is the first Indian to have won win a singles match at the US Open in seven years after Somdev Devvarman. But due to alpoor serve and a superior Dominic Thiem, his journey ended in Round 2.

“I think the only bad game he played was at 4-3 for me in the first set where he kind of came back into the match after he broke me, then he did some unforced errors. Besides that, I think it was a good match on a quite good level,” the Austrian said later.

Medvedev wings past O’Connell

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev aces past Christopher O’Connell with a 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory in round two on Friday at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York. The Russian broke O’Connell four times and gave him nothing on serve. In the second set, O’Connell had to take a lengthy medical time-out and have a trainer work on a discernible back strain at 4-1.

The final saw an admirable comeback with him levering his only two break points from Medvedev. But the Russian saved them and aced the match with a big serve. Next, Medvedev will battle Jeff Wolf in the 3rd round.
