Serena started off very well and gave Azarenka no chance whatsoever in first set. But in 2nd and 3rd set, Azarenka played way better then Serena, who was gasping for breath. This is Azarenka’s third US Open final, first win over Serena Williams at US Open. This will be the first major final appearance in seven years for Azarenka.

Serena fell apart after a quick start

Serena made a quickfire start to win the first set by 6-1. She couldn’t hold her lead as Vika made a comeback to win the second by 6-3. It was a series of unforced errors by Serena in second set.

In the third and final set, Serena tweaked her ankle when she was 1-0 down and took a medical timeout. But nothing could stop Azarenka ad she raced past to take a 3-0 lead. Serena tried her best but she failed to serve those fiery aces and lost the third set by 6-3.
