The defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz, will face unseeded player Matteo Arnaldi in the fourth round of the US Open. Alcaraz cruised through Dan Evans, Dominik Koepfer, and Llyod Harris earlier this week in the previous rounds.

On the other hand, 61st-ranked Arnaldi caused a huge upset by defeating 16th-seeded Cameron Norrie in straight sets to make his debut in the second week of the US Open. He earlier beat Jason Kubler and Arthur Fils on his way.

World No. 1 Alcaraz survived a difficult third-round match against Dan Evans. The defending champion appeared to be in full control of the match after dropping only five games to grab a dominating two-set lead. Evans, on the other hand, cut Alcaraz’s lead in half by taking the third set for the loss of three games. It would only be a temporary roadblock, though, as the Spaniard quickly took over, producing another 6-3 set to seal victory in three hours and ten minutes.

Meanwhile, the Italian  Arnaldi then lost four games in the following set to take a two-set lead. With Norrie struggling to come back, Arnaldi produced another 6-3 set to move to 13-9 on the season and 3-0 in his Flushing Meadows debut.

Alcaraz has a big serve, moves well around the court, and hits powerfully. Arnaldi’s capabilities pale in comparison to the future legend. The soon-to-be World No. 2 has a 39-8 record and two titles to Arnaldi’s 4-2 record. We can expect Alcaraz to breeze through this match.
