Ben Shelton shocked everybody earlier this week after revealing his relationship with Trinity Rodman. The tennis star went dedicatedly committed to the reveal with a hard launch on Instagram. While people immediately caught on who the person in the picture was, they didn’t realize it was Frances Tiafoe who strung the cord.

In a conversation with Overtime Tennis a day after the launch, tennis sensation Frances Tiafoe shared his thoughts on the couple. Little did everybody know, it was him who had set the two up. Regardless, he was the sole “Danny Ainge” of the operation who was shocked at the picture.

Primarily it was the no official-soft launch playing the field that raised eyebrows for Tiafoe other than the fact that Shelton did not tag Rodman. Later, he added that everybody did know the soccer sensation, Trinity Rodman. Much to the users’ agreement, Tiafoe noted the picture slyly being set at the last slide of the carousel.

Notably, Ben Shelton is rather private about his personal life, sharing occasional tidbits with his followers. The public declaration featured a cozy mirror selfie of the couple in an elevator with Rodman kissing Shelton on the cheek.

That was subsequent to the TikTok hints the two had been dropping lately. Earlier in March, the two indulged in a trend on GloRilla and Jorjiana’s song “ILBB2,” lip-syncing the lyrics “They say shooters shoot, Duke Dennis what’s up with you?”. While the two made separate videos, they replaced “Duke Dennis” with dashes for each other’s names.

The entire sports community dropped down in the comments section to express surprise at Ben Shelton’s bold and unnatural post. Tiafoe also commented along with his other friends. However, it is unclear how the two met each other or started dating.

Shortly after Ben Shelton went Instagram official with Trinity Rodman, the US soccer athlete made a confirmation of her own. Turns out, the daughter of a former NBA star was unaware of the launch the tennis throb was going to post. Taking to TikTok, Rodman shared her reaction to seeing her boyfriend with another woman in a wholesome picture.

Much like a couple of other TikToks, the Washington Spirit star expressed her surprise after watching “Ben Shelton hard launch”. After pretending to be flabbergasted, she revealed her excitement realizing it was her. She also went subtle and sleek by writing “Oop” in the caption. Trinity Rodman also confirmed her breakup with her now ex-boyfriend Trinity Benson.

The couple went official on Instagram back in May 2024. However, it is unclear when exactly the couple split, considering the privacy of their relationship. Allegedly, it was only a couple of months ago in January 2025 which would have followed Rodman’s acquaintance with Ben Shelton. The tennis star was also rumored to be dating fellow athlete Coco Gauff, however, there was no official confirmation.
