The Dominican Republic, on Tuesday, August 3, were involved in a close contest against Israel. After loads of twists and turns, they won the match 7-6. Going into the all-important ninth inning, it was Israel, who had a 6-5 lead, but fortunes took a turn from there onwards.

The Dominicans pulled off a home run followed by singles to take their score above Israel’s. It also brought an end to Israel’s journey in the Tokyo Olympics with one win from five games. In the meantime, the Dominicans have to tighten their game to take down the USA.

The USA, on the other hand, started on a handsome note after topping Group A following their wins against South Korea and Israel. While their game against South Korea was a fairly closely-fought affair, they thrashed Israel on July 30 by a margin of 8-1.

Their Round 2 match against Japan on August 2 turned out to be a humdinger. In the end, Japan won the game 7-6. Ahead of their next game, the USA need to shred the disappointment of their last defeat and fire on all cylinders against the Dominicans.
