The Los Angeles Dodgers had a special guest at Dodger Stadium on Monday. Popular musician V from the K-pop band BTS was in attendance and threw the first ceremonial pitch before the game against the Cincinnati Reds. The 29-year-old singer is one of the widely known names in the music industry.
On Monday, he would don the blue jersey of the Dodgers and take part in some activities. Several top names have often thrown the first ceremonial pitch before a game. While some have been perfect, some have gone terribly wrong, like NFL Superstar Travis Kelce‘s attempt at a Cleveland Guardians game in 2023.
For the big moment, V was paired with the Dodgers’ Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. As the 27-year-old pitcher turned into a catcher for a brief moment, all eyes were on the BTS band member. While wearing a customized Dodgers jersey with his name and number 7 behind the back, he would take to the mound with BTS’ Mic Drop being played in the background.
Before tossing the ball with his left hand, the South Korean would bow down to Yamamoto in a show of respect. He then proceeded to throw a perfect pitch, whose clips would quickly go viral on social media.

Another moment that went viral was his meeting with Shohei Ohtani. The two of them would meet in the Dodgers’ dugout and share a brief embrace before posing for some photos.

Dodgers re-take sole possession of 1st place in NL West with 7-0 thrashing of Reds
The Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday kick-started an important 6-game homestand. After winning the final game of the series against the San Diego Padres and tying for the lead at the top, the Dodgers re-took possession of the 1st place in the NL West Standings with a 7-0 thrashing of the Cincinnati Reds.

Andy Pages took on the responsibility of opening the scoring in this game. He smashed a solo home run in the third inning and followed it up with a 2-run home run in the 5th inning, to give his team a 3-0 lead. This turned out to be his 2nd multi-homer game of the season.
The Dodgers added 2 more runs in the 6th inning following a fielding error from Elly De La Cruz. Pages, who was on the plate with 2 outs and bases loaded, would hit a grounder that went past the Reds star. The 24-year-old would then have a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning, which extended the lead to 7-0.
Meanwhile, pitcher Emmet Sheehan threw seven scoreless innings. He completed 7 innings for the first time as a big leaguer and picked up 10 strikeouts.
