Valorant agent Cypher to receive buffs in the next patch
Cypher
Valorant Episode 5 Act 3 is just round the corner, and it is no surprise that fans are excited for the new agent Varun Batra, codenamed Harbor to drop and get a hands-on experience with new controller. Harbor joins the severely understaffed controller category where he is expected to level the playing field. With his ability to smoke off several vital choke points, Harbor has the ability to become a fan favorite however, it really depends on his implementation and usage by the players.

Harbor, however, is not the only change in Act 3, with Riot introducing the new battlepass boasting new skin collections and player cards. Along with it, Act 3 will finally find the new Ion 2.0 gun skin collection dropping, this time in four different color variables. Overall, there are also going to be some aesthetic changes in the loading and after game scenes, which the developers have felt will make the game more user friendly and better to use.
However, one category that really has not received any major player buffs is the Sentinel category. With Chamber mostly used as a secondary duelist, the only pick of the lot is Sage, and Killjoy on specific maps. It has been a long time since Phoenix or Cypher has seen any substantial pro or ranked playtime, therefore, the developers have finally decided to turn their attention to Cypher.
Cypher might get buffs in Valorant sooner than expected
In a recent Twitch interview, the developers have confirmed that a Cypher buff was in works, although the actual extent or the nature of these buffs have remained a closely guarded secret. Yoru was also seemingly given buffs a few acts ago, however, had failed to even then snatch more game time from fellow dualists. It therefore can still be speculated that merely buffing a character’s abilities much not be sufficient to gain him substantial playtime.
Alternatively, Cypher’s cage could have the slowing properties as was tested during the Beta stage but ultimately removed in the final game. This would allow Cypher mains to hold site more effectively and play a slower and more passive game as the character demands. Cypher basically thrives on information usage, therefore, site denial abilities are crucial to his kit. There appears to be rumors too of a Phoenix buff being talked about, although nothing consolidated have come from the developers so far. What remains to be checked is to ultimately find out if the proposed Cypher buffs are sufficient to increase his playtime in higher elos.
