The projected 2025 No. 1 draft pick found himself under the negative limelight again after audaciously claiming that his team, the Colorado Buffaloes is everyone’s Super Bowl. This absurd comparison of a college football team to the Super Bowl didn’t sit well with many, including analyst Paul Finebaum.
The expert analyst criticized Coach Prime and his son, Shedeur Sanders’ impudent claim by calling him “irrelevant” in college football. However, not everyone agrees with him as former NFL player Robert Griffin III publicly disagreed with Finebaum’s criticism and defended Deion Sanders and his son by sharing a social media post on X.
I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism of Coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, and Colorado. Colorado is very relevant and broke TV viewership records last year even after their 3-0 start that saw them finish the year 4-8.Robert Griffin III wrote on X
He further argued even though Deion’s first season with the Buffaloes didn’t go well, there was a massive spike in the audience.
They out drew some of the biggest brands in all of College Football last year. Their blowout loss to Oregon had 10.03 million viewers, which topped the Notre Dame-Ohio State game.Robert Griffin III added
Griffin defended Shedeur’s claim saying that he wasn’t entirely wrong if you try to understand it. Given, that throughout the last college football season, any team competing against the Buffaloes viewed the match as a ‘Super Bowl game’ and also the hardest match of the season.
Coach Prime thanks Robert Griffin III for defending Colorado and him
Upon coming across Griffin’s post disagreeing with Finebaum’s criticism and defending him, the legendary NFL player expressed gratitude towards RG3 by commenting on his long X post. Though he didn’t mention Finebaum or acknowledge the condemnation of Colorado, it seems evident the reference he was talking about.
God is good my brother & they mad mad! I sense a bit of anger & hostility. Lolololololol God bless @RGIII for always keeping it.‘Coach Prime’ Deion Sanders commented with a ‘100’ emoji
Robert Griffin III urged fellow analysts, by specifically mentioning the expert Finebaum that they shouldn’t “kick” Deion and his team down as they are working on building something new at Colorado.
