Victor Wembanyama has four-word WARNING for rest of basketball world

San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama will take Paris Olympics silver as motivation

Victor Wembanyama has already made his case as one of the most exciting young stars in the world of basketball. The 7′ 4″ phenom has fans and players drooling over what they see every game. Those capabilities were on full display at the Paris Olympics. But he could not complete his goal of defeating Team USA to win gold. Now that has seemingly motivated the San Antonio Spurs star.

After being awarded the silver medal, he posted a photograph of him wearing the medal while standing on the podium at the Paris Olympics. But with that photograph he wrote this caption on his official Instagram account:

It’s just the beginning…

It was just four words from Victor Wembanyama. But those four words should send shivers down the spine of everyone who is in the NBA or part of international basketball, given it was nothing short of a warning.

That silver medal has capped off a brilliant season for the rookie. Winning the Rookie of the Year as well as being in contention for Defensive Player of the Year are great achievements. But it seems he has only one way ahead, forward.

This silver will motivate him to develop as a basketball player and stake his claim to be one of the best to ever play the game. For that to happen, he will need to put in the work, starting this off-season, when he will have new teammates in the NBA.

Victor Wembanyama to wreak havoc in the NBA

The San Antonio Spurs knew that they cannot wait around to assemble better players around their phenom. First, they drafted Stephon Castle, a guard who can score from anywhere on the court. Then they signed veteran point guard Chris Paul. The latter addition will bode well for the rookie.

Chris Paul is the type of guard who makes everyone around him better. His career shows that he has instantly made teams better. Now towards the end of his career, it will be a fitting end if he can help unlock the unreal potential Victor Wembanyama has, while also helping develop the young Spurs roster and keep adding to his own repertoire.

If the 20-year-old can learn what Paul has gained through experience, his development will be fast tracked. Add to that the wise words of head coach Gregg Popovich. All signs suggest that the four words he wrote on his social media page will come true soon. The basketball world better watch out.
