The NBA has witnessed many young talents turn into superstars over their time in the league. At present, there are many such players in the league who have superstar potential. One of them is the San Antonio Spurs star and French sensation Victor Wembanyama. The Spurs star made a blockbuster entrance in his rookie year last season.

Not only that, his top performances in the league have even left current NBA stars in awe. On Wednesday, the Denver Nuggets star man DeAndre Jordan heaped huge praise on the French star regarding his gameplay. Jordan spoke about how difficult it is to defend against Wemby and also labeled him as an ‘Avatar.’

He’s an avatar. He’s extremely skilled. He can shoot the basketball, he can handle it and he can literally alter or block any shot that comes into the paint.

Entering his second season with the Spurs, Wembanyama is ready for a successful campaign. And given what he has accomplished in basketball over the past 12 months, he has every reason to be confident. After achieving remarkable success as an individual in the NBA, he went on to achieve collective success with the French national team.

Wembanyama made second place in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year, behind fellow countryman Rudy Gobert, and earned Rookie of the Year in his debut NBA season. Wemby averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.6 blocks a game as a rookie, which was incredible.

Chris Paul added phenom Victor Wembanyama to his ‘great players’ list

Chris Paul recently made NBA history. This was during the San Antonio Spurs victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night. He recorded his 12,092nd assist, surpassing Jason Kidd for the second-highest all-time.

The historic moment came when Victor Wembanyama made a 3-pointer in the second quarter. This was after Paul’s inbound pass to him set a new record.

Paul acknowledged that someone like Wembanyama was new to him after the game. Also, he reflected on his career and the changes the NBA has undergone in his 19 years in the league.

I think it’s been really cool to be a part of his journey, I’ve had an opportunity to be a part of a lot of great players’ journey in my career, and to be here with Vic and to be connected to him in that way has been pretty cool.

Chris Paul said post-game

Wembanyama had to be briefly removed from the game against the Pelicans due to a lower back ailment. However, he was able to return for Paul’s huge night after missing the previous two games. In addition to this, Paul claimed that he was ‘glad’ Wemby returned for his big night in the NBA.
