The San Antonio Spurs have made a mediocre start to their season, winning 6 and losing 6 in 12 games. Their most recent win came on Wednesday night against the Washinton Wizards. Along with the win, their star player, Victor Wembanyama, put on a great show for his home crowd. As such, his performance have gained the attention of the NBA community.

The Spurs had a 5-6 NBA season record going into Wednesday night’s matchup with the Wizards. Compared to last season’s winning percentage of (.268) which placed 14th in the Western Conference—this one (.455) represents an early improvement. Now, after winning their match against the Wizards, they find themselves in a better position in the West. However, it was Wembanyama that stole all the spotlight.

The French phenom dropped a monstorous career-high 50 points on the Wizards. This left NBA fans into a frenzy, taking to social media to put their opinions forward. One fan wrote on X, “This man can be the GOAT,” after witnessing his mind-blowing performance at the mere age of 20.

Wembanyama averaged 19.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game going into Wednesday. He led the NBA in blocks per game (3.9). In additon, Wemby created NBA history being the only center in league history to have at least five three-pointers in three consecutive games.

Fans left stunned after witnessing Victor Wembanyama’s career-high 50 points

Victor Wembanyama, who came into the NBA as the most anticipated talent since LeBron James, has in some respects surpassed these expectations. As a rookie, Wembanyama was selected to the All-Defensive First Team, but his offense lagged somewhat behind his defense. Not anymore, as he scored a career-high 50 points against the Washtington Wizards as a 20-year old.
