Victor Wembanyama rallies his San Antonio Spurs to bring down Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, destroying their playoff seeding

When the Denver Nuggets arrived in San Antonio today, the expectation was that the defending champions would secure their No. 1 seed with a win against the Spurs. However, Victor Wembanyama had other ideas. His dominant performance on the court caused the Nuggets to drop to third place in the playoff standings, potentially impacting Nikola Jokic‘s MVP rankings.

At the end of the first half, it looked like the Denver Nuggets were going to run out as winners. They expanded on the lead and were at one point 23 points ahead in the third quarter.

Then the 7′ 4″ rookie phenom spurred his team on a run, which brought the Spurs closer to the Nuggets in the last few minutes of the game. He ended up putting up a defensive clinic, blocking Nikola Jokic on a possession, ensuring that his 34 points were enough to put the Nuggets in a tough spot with 1 game to go.

Victor Wembanyama said after the game that it was the biggest game of his rookie season. Quite possibly it was after he ended up on the losing side just a few days back, despite putting up incredible numbers then too. What made his performance even more special tonight was that Wembanyama did not have a couple of his starters, as well as a few crucial bench players at his disposal.

The Nuggets had made it their focus after the All-Star break to take the No. 1 spot, even missing a trip to the White House to prioritize that target. Now their seeding depends on the last day of the season.

Victor Wembanyama has fans in shock after wreaking havoc

But the superstar did not hold back, bringing out some elite level plays unheard of from a player that tall and making the Nuggets rethink their position in the playoffs.

Basketball fans watching the game had several highlights where their eyeballs were popping out. Evidently, at every turn, they took to praise Wembanyama on social media. Check some of those comments below:
