Victor Wembanyama tickles NBA fans with Chris Paul shade following NBA All Star weekend skills challenge debacle
Fans react to Spurs' Victor Wembanyama's hilarious dig at Chris Paul after skills challenge disqualification

Victor Wembanyama-Chris Paul gets disqualified from the 2025 skills challenge
During Saturday’s 2025 NBA Kia Skills Challenge, fans witnessed a peculiar moment. Representing the San Antonio Spurs in the brand-new team format of the Skills Challenge, Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul were disqualified for their devious tactics in an attempt to hack the competition by exploiting a loophole they discovered.
In order to cut their time short, they hoisted half-hearted shots, leading them to finish the course in well under a minute. However, they quickly learned that they were debarred from the tournament since their shot attempts didn’t qualify as valid. Nonetheless, their silly effort to try to win the All-Star event was a breath of fresh air.
After getting disqualified from the NBA Skills Challenge, Wemby confessed that it his plan and he has zero regrets for trying to pull it off. Veteran CP3 on the other hand said, “it was fun”. However, fans thought that the French baller threw Chris Paul under the bus when he remarked-

Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama said it was his idea, not Chris Paul’s, to “hack” the Skills Challenge, which led to disqualification.

Was I booed? I don’t think I was booed. I wasn’t booed, right? Chris was.

After completing the relay in 28.5 seconds and scoring 45 points on the passing challenge and 72 points in shooting, Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley amassed a total of 217 points, leading to their victory in the Kia Skills Challenge. On the other hand, bettors are begging sportsbooks to null and void their wagers on Wembanyama and Chris Paul.
Although the Spurs duo lost the Skills Challenge, their win-at-any-cost—or by-any-means-necessary—spirit won the fans over. Even the Cavs’ Evan Mobley admitted that he also had a similar idea to leverage the loophole but decided to refrain from exercising it.
Funniest fan reactions to Wemby suggesting that only Chris Paul was booed
When the 7’3″ Spurs center took the initiative to implement his sly strategy during his turn to run the route, fans were left bamboozled by his antics. But when his teammate CP3 also started doing the same gestures during his turn, the arena filled with fans’ disappointed boos.
After the game, Wemby clarified that it was only Paul who got booed and not him. This had fans rolling on the floor. Here are some of the hilarious fan reactions.

The news of their disqualification has since been making rounds on the internet, which is always a good sign for a struggling sports league like the NBA. With a newly formatted All-Star Weekend, it’s enticing to see what Sunday’s matchup has to offer.
